Boric Acid - the natural way to treat BV & thrush
INFORMATION ON BORIC ACID AND B.V
Boric acid has antifungal and antiseptic properties which can be used to treat a variety of fungal infections including yeast infections.
Boric acid works by disrupting the cell wall of the fungus, which inhibits the growth of the fungi and prevents them from multiplying. Boric acid also has a dying effect on the affected area which can help to reduce the moisture that fuels fungal growth.

B.V. and yeast infections are common vaginal infections that occur when there is an imbalance of the bacterial populations in the vagina. The exact cause of BV is not fully understood but it is believe to be related to a change in the balance of the bacteria that normally live in your vagina.
The vagina naturally has a slightly acidic pH that discourages the growth of harmful bacteria. In B.V. the number of lactobacilli decreases and other types of bacteria increase. This can lead to an overgrowth of the bad bacteria and can an imbalance to the vginal pH.
Several factors can contribute to the development of B.V including (but not limited to):
Ø Antibiotics: taking long-term antiobitoics can kill off the beneficial labtobacilli bacteria and inscrease the risk of B.V.
Ø Sexual activity: this can lead to an imbalance of vaginal pH levels
Ø Hormonal changes: during pregnancy, menstruation or menopause the balance of the beneficial bacteria can diminish and increase the risk of B.V.
Ø Douching: this can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina and can increase the risk of B.V.
Ø Other factors: smoking, the use of an intrauterine device (IUD) and having a weakend immune system
